Donations to the Livingston County United Way on last week’s 10th Annual Matching Money Monday are expected to total around $285,000, pending final audit process. Donations from area residents, small businesses and companies were matched by big-hearted local sponsors, who made the day possible.
All proceeds raised from this event help struggling local families by providing rent, food, emergency shelter, heating, utility assistance, and keeping families from being evicted.
Matching Money Monday has become not just a day to raise funds for community initiatives and programs, but an event that brings Livingston County residents together to celebrate the spirit of the season by generously giving. Erin MacGregor, Superintendent of Howell Public Schools and 2017 Campaign Co-Chairperson, greeted guests at the United Way building. “People were stopping by, bringing checks and cash, and everyone was so happy to be part of this tremendous day. I left feeling the energy, passion, and generosity shared by everyone.”
Campaign Co-Chairperson, Carol Griffith, Vice-Chairperson for the Livingston County Board of Commissioners, agreed. “There was such a genuine sense of community shared by all who dropped in. People really want to help local families who are struggling to keep up with the most basic needs. It truly is a day of generosity!”
